Today, someone is still thinking the comics art, or comics handcraft if you prefer, is mainly a matter of silly boys. Fortunately, also in these years we have had a reasonable number of illustrators, from Lorenzo Mattotti to Jim Lee and Grag Land, that have just show the opposite. Last of this authors is the thirty-five years old Gabriele dell’Otto, that with this illustrator book, through his handworks, demonstrate how an Italian drawer can move up to the top of the Marvel Universe. Waiting a new Marvel adventure, “Secret War”, drawing just by Dell’Otto, with this book everyone can discover the best work of this new international talent.

“The Marvel Art of Gabriele dell’Otto” is share in six part, with at the beguine “Visions in Black and White”, and then “Light and Shadow”, “Giant size” (colour foldout, Editor’s note), “Marvels in Full Colour”, “Cover Gallery” and, at the end, the table of this artist, behind the scenes, a real step to step of one of him cover.

About one hundred work of extraordinary skill, a journey into a fantastic world made with pencil, acrylic and airbrush, with Spider-Man, the Thing, and the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Doctor Doom and many more Marvel starrings.

The bodies of his super-heroes have the dynamism like a real men and a real women, and the study of the light, and the dark, is careful like in a painting of an Flemish painter.

Is strange enough that an another young Italian genius doesn’t work on an Italian character. But it is another matter.
